Thankfully No Star Wars/Marvel Crossover Says Fiege

Was there ever anyone who realistically wanted a Star Wars/Marvel crossover, outside of Patton Oswalt anyway? Thankfully, that’s one shark jump we won’t have to worry about whilst Kevin Feige is in charge of Marvel Studios. Feige recently spoke with Yahoo Movies for the WandaVision promotional trail. For some reason, the outlet decided to ask Feige about a possible Star Wars/ Marvel crossover. Thankfully Fiege does not seem keen on the idea.

“If you’d ask me if anything we’re talking about right now was in the realm of possibility 20 years ago, I would’ve said, ‘I don’t think so. But I really don’t think so,” he quickly adds. “I don’t think there’s any reason for it.”

Amen to that Mr. Feige, Amen to that. In fact the only time I think it was acceptable for this to happen was comedy. Remember Patton Oswalt’s pitch for a Star Wars/Marvel crossover in Parks and Recreation? If you don’t, do not fear. Here it is again below.

In fact, Feige actually said that Oswalt’s scene was,

“Probably as close as we’ll ever get.”

What more can I say but,

I cannot be alone on a hill with Kevin Feige when I say how horrible an idea this is. I genuinely don’t think there would be many fans out there who think a Star Wars/Marvel crossover is a good idea. If there are any of you misguided souls out there, reach out to us in the comments. This would be a sure fire way to derail both Universes. And Yeah, I know I am sharing this Yahoo story, but what was the interviewer smoking when they asked that question? Unless they were doing serious drugs with Mr. Feige before the tape ran, then it’s just mental. Legal note: LRM is not trying to insinuate anyone was doing hard drugs, least of all Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, t’was a joke.

However this got me thinking, what if 40 years in the future some idiot in charge at Disney thought this was a good idea? It seems unlikely, but never underestimate what some people will do for money. I think we need an Earth law passed somewhere which says these franchises can never be mixed. Yes, I made up an Earth law, but I know of at least 7 people in Tibet who are with me on this. So only several Billion more to convert, hold my beer.

This is such a bad idea, it’s almost funny. No one wants this surely? Oh well, maybe Patton Oswalt does? Oswalt responded to this article on social media, he sounds disappointed.

Are you crazy enough to want a Star Wars/Marvel crossover, do you hear strange noises in your basement or attic. If the answer to either of these questions is yes, you’d better call the Ghostbusters. Though, by 2060 will the Ghostbusters also be in the MCU? Maybe Spider-Man will help the Ghostbusters fight the Gremlins in Nakatomi Plaza, Mordor?
