Last night on the latest episode of The Simpsons, we had the confirmation that Thanos’ decimation of the life in the universe in last years Avengers: Infinity War has achieved mainstream pop culture status. Unless you’ve never seen The Simpsons before (surely you have?) you know that they put a lot of gags into the opening credits and normally the part where the family sits on the couch. There have been some classics over the years, but this one tickled me I have to admit.
As The Simpsons arrive home as always they find Thanos already sitting on the couch awaiting them, as he inserts Maggie’s pacifier into the Infinity Gauntlet, the Simpsons all fade away, other than Maggie herself. One wonders if this is a little tease from the show’s producers in relation to the impending takeover deal between Fox and Disney. The deal is expected to be completed in early March and from that date, The Simpsons will be a Disney property.

Now, there is literally no chance at all that Disney is going to pull a Thanos and cancel The Simpsons. Instead, I’d imagine we will see the world’s most famous cartoon family appearing in various Disney theme parks and other numerous other ways of Disney using the long-running show to make more profits. It makes sense and it’s likely that The Simpsons is one of the key IP’s that Disney wanted when they started this takeover process. Who wouldn’t want them?
