The indie film marks a complex drama between two people stuck in a cabin after a confession of a mystery is revealed. In a tug back-and-forth, the question of the next move after the apology was offered.
The film stars Anna Gunn alongside Linus Roache with Janeane Garofalo. Alison Locke makes her feature film directorial debut.

In The Apology, twenty years after the disappearance of her daughter, recovering alcoholic Darlene Hagen (Anna Gunn) is preparing to host her family’s Christmas celebration with her best friend Gretchen (Janeane Garofalo). Late Christmas Eve, Darlene’s estranged ex-brother-in-law, Jack (Linus Roache), arrives unannounced, bearing nostalgic gifts and a heavy secret. Soon, Darlene finds herself caught between reason and ruthless instinct. Trapped together by a dangerous storm, a battle of wits escalates to a violent game of revenge.

LRM Online’s Gig Patta spoke with actor Linus Roache about his role in playing Jack Kingsley. We talked about apology acceptance versus revenge, a cast of mainly two characters, a cabin, and being tied down.
Linus Roache is a British actor known for playing Executive ADA Michael Cutter in the NBC dramas of Law & Order and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. He most recently portrayed Ecbert, King of Wessex, in the series Vikings from 2014 to 2017. In 2002, he was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for playing Robert F. Kennedy in RFK and won a Satellite Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Ralph Wigram in The Gathering Storm that same year. Other notable appearances included Priest, The Wings of the Dove, Pandaemonium, Batman Begins, Non-Stop, Mandy, and a recurring role in the final two seasons of Homeland.
The Apology is currently streaming on Shudder and AMC+.
