I know, I know how you’re all feeling. “Enough with the rumors about Ben Affleck leaving,” right? Yeah, I feel ya, but the reality is we still have yet to hear any official confirmation about what the hell is happening with Affleck and The Batman, and until we do, we can’t really accept it as complete fact — even if all our evidence on the inside points to this happening. With that in mind, we kinda have to report whenever we have yet another indication proving this is happening or to the contrary.
With that in mind, here is yet another rumor, this time coming from Forbes contributor Mark Hughes. According to a tweet from the writer, Affleck is pretty much out and has been for a while. Here’s what he said:
“He’s not Batman in this movie. As of now, there are no plans to involve Affleck, and the situation behind the scenes is that he’s been arranging his exit from the DCEU for months. I know fans hate to hear this, but it’s time to prepare yourselves for Batman without Affleck.”
As stated above, this pretty much falls in line with a lot of what we’ve heard in the past, as well as buzz I heard that he was out as early as January 2017. That being said, it’s been a hot topic of debate as to whether or not he’d stick it out for at least one more film. If we’re to believe Hughes, it doesn’t sound like he will.
Should Hughes be correct, casting will likely begin for The Batman several months ahead of whenever the movie actually hits production. But seeing that we don’t actually know how development on the project is faring, god knows when that is.
