The end is near for Ben Affleck as Batman. At least that’s the buzz that’s been going around Tinsel Town for the past year-and-a-half, ever since he started pulling back on his enthusiasm for taking on the Caped Crusader back when Batman v Superman first hit. But who would take on the role after him? That’s a question that’s been answered time and again, with multiple outlet stating that director Matt Reeves was circling one actor in particular: Jake Gyllenhaal.

And you know what? It’s not a bad choice. He may not have the broader physique of Affleck, but he’s someone who’s very respected in the business, and after the very slow descent of enthusiasm from Affleck, is a name that could help bring new enthusiasm from fans. But is it true? When asked by CNA Lifestyle if he would indeed be the new Batman, Gyllenhaal gave a laugh and said:
“Wow, that’s a very difficult question. The answer to that question is ‘no.’”
Didn’t sound too terribly difficult to answer. But is he telling the truth? Of course, he may be using his amazing acting skills to mask the truth, but it’s also possible that he would have no idea he’s being considered by Matt Reeves. Then again, we did hear rumors that he’d pretty much agreed to the role, and it was just a matter of making things official.
With Reeves himself still in the development process of The Batman, I don’t imagine it’s something we’ll be finding out any time soon. Do you want Gyllenhaal to play Batman? Let us know your thoughts down below!
