Oh, hey, look at this! A piece of DC news! While this has always been the universe with the most interesting bits of news, in recent months, the most interesting part of it all has been Zack Snyder’s reactions to Justice League on Vero. Perhaps this is a good thing, as no news is good news, right?

Well, today, we have another tidbit making its way through the rumor mill, and it comes courtesy of Variety writer Justin Kroll. His news mostly concerns Matt Reeves’ The Batman film, but could very well influence Birds of Prey. Here’s what he had to say:

“Take this with a grain of salt as things are constantly changing in the DCEU but I’m hearing the Penguin is possibly the choice to play the main villain in THE BATMAN. Sources add even if Reeves decide to go another route the studio could then make him the main villain in BOP”

So from the sound of it, they are nowhere near locking down a story for the film just yet, but as of this very second, it looks like the Penguin could very well be the villain. Should the director decide against it, he could end up in Birds of Prey.

Personally, I think the big takeaway here is that Warner Bros. isn’t forcing Reeves to hurry up. They’ve already dropped the ball on their films up until this point, so the fact that they’re giving him time to actually develop it is a good sign. Let him go where he wants to go and trust him. Doing the inverse has always led to bad places for the studio.

What do you think of this? Would you like to see Penguin as the main villain in The Batman? Let us know your thoughts down below!
