The Batman RT score revealed! I’m not sure why fans put so much stock in what various critics have to say about a movie, positive or negative, but we do anyway? So far the consensus is very much positive among the critics who have published reviews. Of course, what usually interests me far more is the response of the fans. However we will have to wait till next week before those begin to appear, given the movie comes out this week on general release.
At the time of publishing this post below, The Batman had a 91% Fresh score on the aggregate site.
The first reviews are in for #TheBatman – currently it's #Fresh at 91% on the #Tomatometer, with 120 reviews: https://t.co/MM3aqoP5C2 pic.twitter.com/MgWUUMrmPl

Of course since then there have been a few more reviews and the consensus remains positive. Some critics are comparing The Batman to The Dark Knight in terms of being up there as the best Batman put on film. Even those not praising quite as much as that are still happy with the movie, the direction, and the performances.
IGN awarded The Batman a perfect 10/10 score and wraps up with,
“Matt Reeves’ violent, thrilling, darkly beautiful take on The Batman more than justifies its place in the franchise’s canon.”
As for the big hitters here is a sample of what Deadline, THR, and Variety had to say in that order below. All were positive reviews and you can find them in full in the links on their names.

Deadline says, “this is a Batman you have never seen before,”
THR says, “this glowering study in crime and punishment is meticulously crafted, vividly inhabited storytelling with a coherent, thought-through vision, and that makes for muscular entertainment.”
Variety says, “grounded, frequently brutal and nearly three-hour film noir [that] registers among the best of the genre.”
So far there are very few negative reviews but of course there are a few. However I will say the only consistent message I could find across a handful of negative reviews was pacing, runtime, and too dark, put some lights on. These are likely genuine opinions and of course any movie is completely subjective to the person reviewing. My guess is, that if you are reading this, you’ve probably already booked your tickets or the positive word of mouth has made your mind up.
I plan to see The Batman this coming weekend with my son, I’ll dip my own toes into the review stream early next week and let you know what I thought.
What do you think as The Batman RT score revealed and the critics are overwhelmingly positive so far? Thoughts below as always.
