The Brothers Sun | Kevin Tancharoen on Directing An Asian-Driven Netflix Series

The upcoming Netflix series The Brothers Sun is definitely considered Asian enough. The series represents many elements of Asian culture, food, and family and even showcases Taiwan and the very prominent Asian neighborhoods in Los Angeles.

And it’s definitely a fun series to watch, full of action and comedy with twists and turns.

As a first-generation Thai-American, director Kevin Tancharoen jumped on board to help executive produce and helm five of the eight action-packed episodes of the series.

The ensemble cast includes Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All at Once, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon), Justin Chien (Continuum, Sun Moon), Sam Song Li (Better Call Saul, Never Have I Ever), Highdee Kuan (You, Quantum Leap), and Joon Lee (Geno! You Good?, Neh).

The rest of the recurring cast includes Johnny Kou (Mom, Don’t Do That!), Alice Hewkin (Sex Education), Jon Xue Zhang (Eternals), Jenny Yang (Last Man Standing), Madison Hu (Bizaardvark), and Rodney To (Parks and Recreation).

Byron Wu and Brad Falchuk created the series.

Here is the official synopsis:

When the head of a powerful Taiwanese triad is shot by a mysterious assassin, his eldest son, legendary killer Charles “Chairleg” Sun (Justin Chien) heads to Los Angeles to protect his mother, Eileen (Michelle Yeoh), and his naïve younger brother, Bruce (Sam Song Li)—who’s been completely sheltered from the truth of his family until now. But as Taipei’s deadliest societies and a new rising faction go head-to-head for dominance—Charles, Bruce and their mother must heal the wounds caused by their separation and figure out what brotherhood and family truly mean before one of their countless enemies kills them all.
