The Comic Stash | Books Worth Reading The Month Of June 2021

Comic Books

Welcome to The Comic Stash where I go over some hot titles that are coming out this month.  There are tons of great titles and great stories out there from the major publisher to the small independents.  So, without saying it can be hard to just narrow a few titles that are coming out each week.  But again, these are just my picks and what is hot this month so please collect what you like or what grabs your interest.  Never stop collecting or reading what you love to read, I just like putting some titles out there that way you do not miss out on anything.

June 2, 2021

The new title from Dynamite is called Bettie Page and Curse of the Banshee #1 written by Stephen Mooney with art by Jethro Morales.  These series runs are always a fun read with great covers to pick from along with classic Bettie Page photos as well.  She is an icon and a face like Marilyn Monroe that is well known all over the world even today.  A new title from Artists Writers and Artisans Inc. is called Moths that is written by J. Michael Straczynski with art by Mike Choi.  Independent companies have been bringing some awesome stories as of late because they cannot tell them with DC or Marvel.  This should be a good series and with the talent bringing the story of Emily Kai, it should be a fun series.  From Image Comics comes Nocterra #4 written by Scott Snyder with art by Tony S. Daniel and Tomeu Morey.  This story has been a great read since the first issue and if you are not reading it, you are missing out!   From Marvel Comics comes Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters #1 of 5, written by Charles Soule with art by Luke Ross.  This will be hot and hope you get a copy because we follow Boba Fett as he claims his prize, Han Solo. This will be sold out because of the untold tale of Boba Fett’s adventure and because of the die-hard Star Wars fans. From DC Comics we have Poison Ivy: Thorns wrote by Kody Keplinger with art by Sara Kipin.  Crush and Lobo #1 written by Mariko Tamaki with art by Amancay Nahuelpan.  This should be fun to see these two characters together and seeing what kind of trouble they make.  Batman the Adventures Continues Season Two #1 written by Alan Burnett and Paul Dini with art by Ty Templeton.  The first season had a great story and hopefully, this second season follows it well.

From Image Comics comes Ant #12 written by Erik Larsen with art by Erik Larsen.  Image has not completed the story of Ant in 14 years since #11 was released, so it is finally time to finish the story of Hannah WashingtonAftershock Comics has been killing it with hit after hit and this new title should be another smash for this company.  Bunny Mask #1 written by Paul Tobin with art by Andrea Mutti, tells the story of Bunny Mask who has been released after a long time of being out away.  Should be a great story to pick up and again this company has been doing a super job with its titles.  Another great title from this company is Manic of New York #5 written by Elliott Kalan with art by Andrea Mutti.  In this story, we come to the end of what happens to Manic Harry and the police that hunted him down.  From Marvel Comics comes Web of Spider-Man #1 of 5, written by Kevin Shinick with art by Rob DiSalvo.  Should be a good read as we follow Peter who is set up with everything he needs to be an awesome web-slinger thanks to Tony StarkDC is releasing Batman and Scooby-Doo Mysteries #1, which of course is silly and for kids but still fun to see Batman with Scooby-Doo.  Also, from Dc this week will be Batman: Earth One volume three, written by Geoff Johns with art by Gary Frank.

From Image and the Netflix show Jupiter’s Legacy comes, Jupiter’s Legacy Requiem #1 written by Mark Millar with art by Tommy Lee Edwards.  In a world where we think all is well, it is not.  Things seem to get worst as we find out more secrets coming from the island.  Radiant Black #5 written by Kyle Higgins and art by Marcello Costa has been a supreme comic from Image.  This is another comic that if you are not reading you are missing out on a great one!  Image has another fun comic out this week called Silver Coin #3 written by Ed Brisson with art by Michael Walsh.  We continue following the mysterious silver coin as it causes trouble and death in its path.  Aftershock Comics has Silver City #2 that is written by Olivia Cuartero-Briggs with art by Luca Merli, coming out this month as well.  This is a fun take on the afterworld and how things work once you die.  Marvel has a book called Planet-Sized X-Men #1 Gala written by Gerry Duggan with art by Pepe Larraz.  This is a one-shot story but will have a lot going on that affects the X-Men world.  DC Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow #1 written by Tom King with art by Bilquis Evely.  In this story, we get to see Supergirl take on new challenges along with Krypto by her side.  Batman / Fortnite: Zero Point #5 of 5, written by Christos Gage with art by Christian Duce.  This is the final to the series, and we get to see how Batman and Catwoman get out of this game, also you need this last issue to get the code for the Batman Armor.

DC has Robin #3 written by Gleb Melnikov with art by Joshua Williamson.  This has been a great look into Bruce’s son Damian as he continues his mission on the island.  Wonder Woman Black and Gold #1 written by Ming Doyle, Amy Reeder, Ryan Sook, Morgan Been with art by Amy Reeder, John Arcudi, Nadia Shammas, and AJ Mendez.  A ton of talent to bring you this 80th anniversary of Wonder Woman, focusing on the gold like her lasso and uniform.  From Behemoth Comics and Netflix comes MFKZ #1 written by Run and art by Run.  The movie from Netflix was fun, dark, and entertaining, and we can continue the adventures of Angelino and his buddy VinzMarvel will be release Web of Spider-Man #2 this week also, which is written by Kevin Shinick with art by Alberto Jimenez Albuquerque.

June 30, 2021

Marvel has Black Cat Annual #1 written by Jed MacKay with art by Joey Vazquez coming out the last week of the month.  Antarctic Press and Motofumi Kobayashi who created Cat Shit One bring a new series called World War 3 #1 of 3.  We go back to the year 1994 where if one thing had been different why would it cause another World War.  Zenescope Entertainment series Grimm Fairy Tales reaches #50 and comes with variant covers as well.  A great title this week to get is from Image Comics called Shadecraft #4 written by Joe Henderson with art by Antonio Fabela.  This story focuses on Zadie and the mystery of how she can control shadows and how she can get her brother back.  This has been a great story from the start and the artwork is perfect for this story.
