Anime Expo 2023 has now ended and it was a blast. AX 23 had so many great cosplayers, artists, exhibits, and panels. Kyle even got hit by Truck-Kun. Why didn’t we get that filmed?! On the second day of the convention, I got to enjoy the The Art and Mediums of Storytelling panel where Yoko Taro, Atsushi Ohkobo, Hiroyuki Seshita, and Jin discussed their new anime, KamiErabi GOD.app. Unfortunately, Yoko Taro lost his mask partying the night before and showed up with a giant leprechaun mask he found at a store in LA.
A Few Words from the Creators
We got to learn the start of KamiErabi GOD.app. Yoko Taro shared that he sent over the plot to Jin and when it came back to him, Jin changed everything about it. After working on it more, Jin just destroyed everything about it. Jin replied, Well, I think breaking everything and destroying everything makes it interesting. Seshita let the audience know that they were able to reign in Jin. Ohkobo was the last to join the project and after putting their panel together, he finally understood what’s going on, These guys are all crazy.

When discussing the character concepts, Ohkobo wanted colors to be an integral part of their personality. Seshita shared that he felt that the defects in the 3D animation technique were a good match for the really weird really strange world they created.

The Nier Automata Anime Returning Soon!
We’ve been covering Nier on AVR squared since it was first released in the Winter. There have been a few hiccups with the show releasing episodes on time, but we love this series. I actually had Nier Automata stickers of the stubby machine and didn’t even notice it until Kyle said something. Don’t get on my case for it not registering. I have anger issues when I play video games and I’ve always been painfully oblivious. I’m lost without my other half. Nier Automata will be returning to Crunchyroll on July 23. Yay!
Check out KamiErabi GOD.app on Crunchroll October 2023. I enjoyed the hell out of AX 23, but it was a learning experience. Even though we were so busy, I refuse to believe that I’m too old for conventions. I can’t wait to go to AX 24.
