The Goon Is Being Developed At 20th Century Fox (Disney)

I love comic books. I really love non-cape books. Capes are traditional superheroes like Spider-Man or Batman. Classic superhero books are fun, but Marvel hasn’t been that great since the Messiah Complex story in 2008 and I don’t really care for most DC heroes. That doesn’t mean I’m left with nothing as BOOM! Studios, Dark Horse, IDW, Image, and more all have great titles.

One of those great titles is The Goon from Dark Horse Comics. It’s an incredibly adult book filled to the brim with violence, crude humor, and inappropriate imagery… everything I love. Now after 11 years of trying to get a film for the property started, 20th Century Fox (now owned by Disney) has begun officially developing it. The film will be co-produced by the Chernin Group which was responsible for  Planet of the Apes and Oblivion.

The Goon was created by Eric Powell and follows the titular character and his adventures with supernatural and science-fiction inspired creatures. There was a CGI movie planned in 2008 and the current film will maintain that format. The storyboard has been completed and there is a voice cast for that as well as music and sound effects. However, there is no release date or permanent cast announced.
