Coffee. Dry cleaning. Food orders. A personal assistant doesn’t sound like the best job in the world. In The High Note, a personal assistant’s career is going to change for the better.
Focus Features released the first trailer for the anticipated The High Note starring Dakota Johnson (Fifty Shades of Grey) and Tracee Ellis Ross (Black-ish). Ross displays a multitude of talents with the singing and dancing as a diva. Johnson plays a loveable personal assistant who seeks her way to the top.
The film also stars Kelvin Harrison Jr. (Luce), Ice Cube (Friday), Zoe Chao (Where’d You Go, Bernadette), Eddie Izzard (Ocean’s Thirteen), Bill Pullman (Independence Day) and Diplo in this charming comedy. Nisha Ganatra (Late Night) directed the movie from the screenplay written by Flora Greeson (Queen for a Day).
Here’s the synopsis:
Set in the dazzling world of the Los Angeles music scene comes the story of Grace Davis (Tracee Ellis Ross), a superstar whose talent, and ego have reached unbelievable heights. Maggie (Dakota Johnson) is Grace’s overworked personal assistant who’s stuck running errands but still aspires to her childhood dream of becoming a music producer. When Grace’s manager (Ice Cube) presents her with a choice that could alter the course of her career, Maggie and Grace come up with a plan that could change their lives forever.
