Yes, That Was Martin Scorsese’s Voice In The Mandalorian And Grogu Trailer

If you watched the new The Mandalorian and Grogu trailer yesterday and thought you recognised a voice, you did, it was Martin Scorsese.

If you watched the new The Mandalorian and Grogu trailer yesterday and thought you recognised a voice, you did, it was Martin Scorsese. Crazy as that seems the alien who refuses to give Mando information on the Hutt’s in the trailer is voiced by legendary director Scorsese.

As per USA Today,

‘Lucasfilm confirmed to USA TODAY that Scorsese’s voice is heard in the trailer. The legendary filmmaker’s involvement in the movie had not previously been announced. “The Mandalorian and Grogu” director Jon Favreau had a role in Scorsese’s movie “The Wolf of Wall Street.”‘

The director has voiced roles before, most notably in animated film Shark Tale. Given the pair have worked together before it’s clear Favreau and Scorsese are friends and do each other little favours like this. It’s a cool detail, but probably nothing more than that.

The online response to yesterday’s new trailer is certainly better than the reaction to the previous promos. I still need to decide if this will be the first Star Wars film since Empire Strikes Back (I was 2 gimme a break) I will miss in theatres. Post the Superbowl ad, I was sure this was my first tap out in 40 years. I did think the new one was better. Is it enough to get me in, we shall see? I’m not longer set in stone, so that’s some kind of progress I guess?

You can find the new trailer in the related section above if you have not checked it out yet. Plus of course, Shockey’s immediate thoughts. As aways with Star Wars, I live in hope every project is brilliant. It’s just rare that faith hope gets rewarded these days.
