The Incredible Hulk Arrives On Disney+ As Rights Revert Back To Disney

The Incredible Hulk has arrived on Disney+ finally as the rights to the movie revert back to Marvel/Disney. As you can see below, the official Disney+ account revealed the news. The second MCU movie is finally appearing on the streaming service for the first time.

As I’m sure you are aware, universal held the rights to this movie starring Ed Norton. However it was long rumored that the rights were for 15 years and that means it was this week the rights reverted back to Marvel, now owned by Disney. That now seems to be fact if we go by Variety‘s coverage of this news.

The film was initially released and distributed by Universal on June 13, 2008, and the company held the rights to the title for 15 years. Now, in a notable shift, the rights have reverted to Marvel Studios, leading to the film’s release on Disney+.

Now, I like many of you I’m wondering what this means overall for the Hulk movie rights. I don’t mean The Incredible Hulk, but the ability to make more Hulk movies which Disney has been unable to since The Incredible Hulk. Sadly, I’m not sure we have a real answer. The quote above from Variety is very clearly about The Incredible Hulk. Maybe the overall movie rights were part of the same deal, then again, perhaps not? Until we find out officially or through a trade I don’t think we can say either way.

I will however now be hoping that is indeed the case, Maybe then we can get a new Hulk movie in the MCU? Hulk is my second favorite Marvel character from the comics. Sadly, I don’t feel he’s been utilized within the MCU well enough. Well, at least outside of the first two Avengers movies and Thor: Ragnarok.

I guess we will find out eventually what the deal is. It’s been rumored Marvel were planning a World War Hulk movie, though I doubt it would have much similarity with the comic of the same name.

What do you think as The Incredible Hulk arrives on Disney+ finally as the rights to the movie revert back to Disney? It may not be my favorite MCU movie, but I like the fact I can now watch it when I want. What about you? What are your hopes IF the movie rights for Hulk have now gone back to Disney? Thoughts below.
