After 500 years, Leonardo da Vinci captured the hearts and minds of the Renaissance era with innovation, engineering and art. In The Inventor, the animated film takes an outlook to highlight a part of this historical figure with his inventions, arts, and influences across Europe.

The Inventor is ten years in the making with stop-motion animation from director Jim Capobianco (Ratatouille and The Lion King) from the adaptation of the short film Leonardo.

The voice cast includes Stephen Fry (Gosford Park, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy), Daisy Ridley (Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens, Murder on the Orient Express), Marion Cotillard (Inception, Two Days, One Night), Gauthier Battoue (A distance, Sunshine State of Mind), and Matt Berry (Toast of London, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water).

Here is the official synopsis:

The insatiably curious and headstrong inventor/artist Leonardo da Vinci (Fry) leaves Italy to join the French court where he can freely experiment, invent flying contraptions and incredible machines, and study the human body. Joined in his adventure by the audacious Prince Marguerite (Ridley), Leonardo attempts to uncover the answer to the ultimate question: “What is the meaning of life?”

LRM Online’s Gig Patta was on the red carpet for the premiere of The Inventor at the Hollywood Post 42 – The American Legion Theater earlier this week.

He spoke to director Jim Capobianco, composer Alex Mandel with executive producers Robert Rippberger, Phil Viardo, and Robert McGillivray. Also, he chatted with red carpet guests including The Lion King co-directed Rob Minkoff, The Brady Bunch co-star Christopher Knight, and The Price Is Right announcer George Gray.

The Inventor is in select theaters today.
