The Invisible Man Trailer: This New Twist On The Classic Monster Is Terrifying

It wasn’t too long ago that Johnny Depp was set to play the Invisible Man in the Dark Universe. Unfortunately, The Mummy ruined all chances of that vision ever coming to fruition, and we’re left in a world completely devoid of that shared universe — but that’s probably for the best, as that movie was terrible. Not long after, Blumhouse got the rights to The Invisible Man.

It seemed like a perfect fit. Find a studio that brings with it the low-budget spirit of the horror genre, and allow them to create a story that focuses on one film at a time. that’s exactly what they did, and a whole new The Invisible Man is what we’re getting, as evidenced by the new Elizabeth Moss-starring trailer:

As you can see, the filmmakers really took liberties with this one, creating a story of a man who’s dedicated to torturing his ex, and goes so far as to fake his own death and turn himself invisible so he can torment her. Now, that’s a modern horror story if I’ve ever heard one.

The Invisible Man hits theaters on February 28, 2019.
