The family expands on the NBC drama The Irrational.
The series already introduced a few new cast members, and now viewers get to dig deeper into Alec Mercer’s past with the introduction of his father, played by Ron Canada (Wedding Crashers, National Treasure).
The Irrational follows world-renowned professor of behavioral science Alec Mercer (Jessie L. Martin) as he lends his unique expertise to high-stakes cases and mysteries. His insight and unconventional approach to understanding human behavior lead him to work alongside varying clients ranging from the FBI to everyday people caught in perplexing situations desperate for answers. With the help of his trusted team and social science experiments, Alec solves crimes and uncovers the truth to answer intriguing, and irrational, questions.
The rest of the cast includes Maahra Hill, Travina Springer, Molly Kunz, and Arash DeMaxi.

Alec and Marisa investigate a mysterious ghost ship that has washed up on the shores of his hometown. This forces him to revisit his past and spend time with his father, with whom he has a fraught and complicated relationship.
Ron Canada has quite an extensive acting resume both on film and television playing many beloved roles. It is not known how many episodes he may appear on The Irrational, but it should open up more background to Alec Mercer on how he became the man he is today.
The episode “Ghost Ship” premieres tonight, Tuesday, October 28, on NBC at 10-11 p.m. ET/PT.
