The Last Of Us Part II Looks Intense As Hell

We love sequels. We hate sequels. Oftentimes, they are proof of the idea that there’s no such thing as a happy ending. Even if things are left a certain way by the end of a story, any continuation threatens to undo or unravel that had come before (for instance, see all of Thor’s journey in the Marvel Cinematic Universe). Such is the danger of any sequel, and yet with the big blockbuster game The Last of Us, fans have been hungry to return to this world.

A while ago, we got a Last of Us Part II trailer that focused on Ellie’s relationship, and today, we got one that goes beyond that, showing off some of the story and gameplay for the game, including Joel’s introduction.

In the original game, gamers played as Joel, with Ellie acting as the A.I.-controlled party member who assisted you throughout. It seems clear that Ellie herself is at the forefront in this game, but we don’t know if Joel will be relegated to the A.I. character this time around.

Regardless, fans are likely happy to see this guy return to the fold, even if it means it opens him up for another opportunity to die…yeah, I’m a pessimist.
