People forgot that Americans were divided drastically by segregation only a few decades ago.
The Long Game, the film is based on a remarkable true story of a group of Mexican-American high school students who practiced on their make-shift golf course in the desert to eventually win a state championship.
The film stars Jay Hernandez (Magnum, P.I.), Dennis Quaid (Frequency), Julian Works (9-1-1: Lone Star), Jaina Lee Ortiz (Rosewood), Brett Cullen (The Dark Knight Rises), Oscar Nuñez (The Office), Richard Robichaux (Big Shot), and Paulina Chávez (Fate: The Winx Saga).
Here is the official synopsis:
When JB Peña moves to the small town of Del Rio, TX, to take over as the school district’s superintendent, his dreams of joining the prestigious, all-white Del Rio Country Club are immediately squashed. However, soon he meets a group of high schoolers who happen to caddy at the club—they too are prohibited from playing the same course because of the color of their skin. So JB and them band together, at first with the aim of winning tournaments and making it to State, but quickly learn that there’s a lot more to aim for—and a lot more on the line—when a team of Mexican-American teens competes and wins in this exclusive world.
Based on the novel “Mustang Miracle” by Humbert G. Garcia. Julio Quintana (Blue Miracle) directed the movie from the adapted screenplay written by Quintana, Jennifer C. Stetson, and Paco Farias.
