The Mandalorian And Grogu Rumored To Film June To October With Lower Budget | Barside Buzz

According to the Barside Buzz the next Star Wars movie The Mandalorian and Grogu will film from June to October and have a lower budget. The information comes from the folks over at Bespin Bulletin and it does pass the smell test of what we thought was likely.

Here is what the outlet had to say;

‘According to my sources, filming on The Mandalorian and Grogu will run from June until October, making it a four month long shoot. For comparison, the last season of The Mandalorian, season three, filmed from late September 2021 until March 2022, a six month shoot – and that’s just for principal photography and reshoots/pick-ups did happen later on. If all goes to plan, Lucasfilm will have plenty of time to get The Mandalorian and Grogu ready for a 2026 release.’

A shorter shoot was almost a guarantee given the much shorter runtime compared to a full eight episode season of the series. What remains to be seen is how effective the story is being told with a lot less time to tell it. I guess for now that’s ultimately on writer/director Jon Favreau.

I would normally expect a larger budget than the TV series had, even for that shorter runtime. Mando is a good looking TV show. However, it does not ‘look’ as good as Andor, nor any of the sequel trilogy. If I’m going to a cinema, I want a cinematic experience, not a TV special.

I guess I still feel like we can see the cash grab from Disney here. Take two popular characters and turn their next series into a movie. Make some quick guaranteed box office. My worry is Disney will try to keep the budget lower like a TV series for that extra cash revenue. And on that note, here is another worrying rumor from BB in the same article linked above.

‘This leads me to this minor tidbit, I’d heard from a singular source, that the budget on The Mandalorian and Grogu isn’t as high as what a season of The Mandalorian would cost.’

Dear Disney, if it looks like a TV series, I’ll just wait till it’s on Disney+. You have been warned Mickey, as I doubt I’m alone in thinking that. Also, the less of us go see it at theatres, the quicker you’ll fire it onto Disney+. It’s up to you to make us want to go see this.

Guess we will get a better idea around early 2026. When, (I’m guessing) we may see the first trailer for this one ahead of it’s Summer release.

What do you think of this Star Wars rumor that The Mandalorian and Grogu will film from June to October this year? What about it being lower budget? If you are a fan of The Mandalorian, what do you want from the movie? Thoughts below as always.
