The Mandalorian has already had some amazing talent lend their talents to directing in its first season. This has led to a lot of speculation and rumor surrounding the second season. Last week, we reported on rumors surrounding James Mangold and Robert Rodriguez supposedly lending their skills to behind the camera. However, it didn’t take long before that report was debunked.
“Hey Ron,” Mangold wrote on Twitter in response to Ron Howard’s sharing of the rumors. “I’m so pleased if it’s true about Bryce directing another part of The Mandalorian, but I can tell you it’s not true about me. Not doing it, never discussed it. And I suggest fans should look at who’s ‘reporting’ this & make a note that these sites present conjecture as fact.”
Hey Ron. I'm so pleased if it's true about Bryce directing another part of Mandalorian, but I can tell you its not true about me. Not doing it, never discussed it. And I suggest fans should look at who's "reporting" this & make a note that these sites present conjecture as fact.

This was then followed up by the perfect tweet from Taika Waititi, who said:
“Don’t lie, James. Be proud of your Mangoldorian Christmas Special.”
That’s definitely a funny joke, but that doesn’t change the fact that Mangold is flat-out denying his involvement in the franchise, which brings the entire report into question, including Robert Rodriguez’s supposed involvement.

With that in mind, I want you to take this next rumor with a grain of salt because apparently, The Mandalorian misinformation is spreading. This new rumor comes from scooper Charles Murphy. He shares this one as a rumor, meaning he’s only been able to get it from one reliable source.
According to him, Ant-Man and the Wasp helmer Peyton Reed is going to direct two episodes of the upcoming season and that Taika Waititi is set to return. While it’s not explicitly stated, one can assume Waititi will return to the director’s chair of one of the episodes. There is also the possibility of him voicing another character or just hopping on as a producer, but we don’t know yet. Either way, it sounds like he’s back, which is a great thing for the property.
Again, you need to take all this news with a grain of salt. With how easy it seems to be for misinformation to spread about this project, we can’t take everything at face value. That being said, there’s nothing here that rings false from a logic perspective. Unlike the Rodriguez and Mangold news, all this talk of Waititi and Reed does fall in place alongside what we have seen from Disney.
What do you think of this rumor? Do you believe it or will you be filing it alongside the other false rumors? Sound off down below!
