The Mandalorian Season 3 working title is Buccaneer, as rumor goes. If true, does this tell us anything about The Mandalorian Season 3? In my opinion, no, though that hasn’t stopped fans from speculating anyway. The report comes from Skyler Shuler via Twitter who heavily suggests this could mean Space Pirates. Check it out.

The mention of Space Pirates has certainly got the fans speculating as I said above. Many fans have already begun debating whether Rebels character Hondo should be in The Mandalorian. That’s before knowing whether Hondo is even going to be appearing. I certainly don’t think a working title and the mention of Space Pirates immediately equals Hondo Ohnaka. That’s not to say Hondo won’t show up though. Really we have no idea on that front.

Hondo Ohnaka is a creation of Dave Filoni, who you know is heavily involved with The Mandalorian. There are also rumors (many started by LRM) that The Mandalorian could be set to act as a sequel to Filoni’s animated show Rebels. LRM has heard that Ahsoka Tano, Boba Fett, Ezra Bridger, and Cara Dune could all be getting spin-off shows. Since our Cara Dune exclusive further details have pointed to Bo Katan Kryze showing up as a co-lead in that Cara show. It’s therefore not unreasonable to guess that Hondo could show up in The Mandalorian Season 3? Especially, if a bunch of other shows are going to be appearing sometime after that?
The Mandalorian Season 3 is set to begin filming by the end of this year according to showrunner Jon Favreau. So I guess we will find out before long whether ‘Buccaneer’ is the working title. If The Mandalorian Season 3 working title is Buccaneer, does this say Hondo Ohnaka to you? Leave your thoughts below as always.
