The Mandalorian seems to have mostly united fans. While Star Wars: The Last Jedi split them, I have yet to hear anyone say they outright hate The Mandalorian, which is a huge step for the fandom. Sure, not everyone is as nuts about as others, but on the whole, its direction seems to be one fans are interested in going on. I have to imagine that part of that reason has to do with one surprise character that appeared at the end of Episode 1.
I am, of course, talking about Baby Yoda — or rather the baby alien that is the same race as Yoda. This little guy has won the hearts of everyone on the internet, and along the way has paved the way for expanding the mythology of Star Wars in unexpected directions.

As if caving to demand for more Baby Yoda, Jon Favreau himself posted a piece of original concept art for the character, which you can check out below:
Indeed, he is a cute little guy, and as we reported earlier this week, he would have been the perfect candidate for some new toys for Disney to capitalize on. Though as great as that would be, it also would have left audiences open to getting spoiled by a toy leak.
“I have to thank Disney and Lucasfilm,” Favreau told Collider regarding the lack of Baby Yoda merchandise, “because the way the cat usually gets out of the bag with that stuff is merchandising and toy catalogs and things like that. So they really back us up. We really wanted to have it be that you had to watch it yourself, so that every time you watch the show, there are new twists and secrets that come out. That requires a lot of restraint from the people who are footing the bill, saying they’re gonna hold back on certain things so that the public doesn’t know ahead of time. Part of that was holding back on some of the merchandise and holding back on some of the characters.”
