After initially being shown only to those in attendance at Cinema Con, finally The Matrix: Resurrections trailer is online for all to see. Whilst I had certainly heard all the descriptions I can’t help thinking how familiar all this feels to the first movie. I feel like what I am seeing here is a reboot of The Matrix as opposed to a continuation. However this is only a trailer and there’s certainly many differences on show also. Check it out below.
UPDATED with poster and images.
I get the feeling this trailer is supposed to feel very much like the original, but clearly there is something else going on. Is this some kind of second Matrix where those who are dead go/ Why is Trinity and Neo older but Morpheus younger? And Neo somehow seems more powerful than he did at the same stage within the original movie. It’s intriguing for sure.

Given the fact I thought both Matrix sequels extremely disappointing movies, my hype for this was always lukewarm. However, there is just something about that Universe. I think what I always saw was the potential, and what disappointed me about the sequels was the failure to reach that potential. Does that leave me confident The Matrix: Resurrections will be as good as the original? No, but I have hope, you always need to have hope movies are going to be great. I still remember walking into a theatre in 1999 with my then girlfriend, now wife. We both decided to give this new Matrix film a shot, ads the trailers looked ok. I was blown away by that first movie and it remains a classic.
