If you grew up in the 80s, or just happen to be a fan of the era, then there’s a good chance you’re a fan of ABC’s The Goldbergs. The show follows the early life of Hollywood writer Adam F. Goldberg, and his quirky family in Jenkintown Pennsylvania. The series is chocked full of some of that nostalgia we all crave, and has many themed episodes throughout each season.
Most recently the show featured Freddy Kruger in their Halloween episode, with Robert Englund reprising his iconic horror role. An upcoming episode of the show throws its two cents into the debate on whether or not Die Hard is a Christmas movie, and also addresses how television edits of popular films can be disappointing (especially in the 80s)
Goldberg:
“If you grew up in the 80s, you know how big a deal it was when your favorite movie finally aired on TV. Unfortunately, that usually meant a lot of stuff being edited out or cleaned up for kids. I remember how excited I was to show my family the greatest Christmas movie ever, Die Hard. I shushed everyone into silence in anticipation for John McClane’s iconic line. But they had dubbed it to make him say, ‘Yippee Ki Yay, Melon Farmer!'”

Ahh yes, I remember the awful dubs of curse words when a film would air on television. There comes a point where it just becomes funny, and with some films you wonder why they even try to air the film at all.
