No, this isn’t a prank. If you’ve been following all the Oscar stuff lately, you’ll know they’re having kind of a hard time finding a host for their upcoming 2019 ceremony, which is only about a month and a half away from getting in front of cameras. Kevin Hart stepped down not too long ago and no one else seems to be stepping up to fill his place.

Rumors have begun circulating that they will go with a hostless show held together by segment hosts. But who would they get to actually pick up the mantle? They were originally rumored to be seeking out generic A-listers, but a new report from THR is stating the Oscars are lining up actors from the Avengers franchise to help fill that void. Sources are saying some stars were even asked not to appear at the Golden Globes so that their Oscars appearances would be more special.

I have to say this is probably the most brilliant idea they could have possibly ever come up with. Just a couple short weeks after, Captain Marvel will hit theaters, and less than a couple months after that, Avengers: Endgame will also hit. This basically could make the Oscars one giant commercial for the Marvel franchise that could help entice more casual Oscar viewers like yours truly.

As much as I want to be cynical about this — and let’s face it, this is an attempt to engage with an audience that has lost interest in awards — I don’t hate the idea. Do you? How much would you like to see the Avengers take stage at the Academy Awards? Let us know down below!
