I was just bowled over by this trailer for Collateral Beauty.

Until this morning, I hadn’t even heard of the movie. I knew Will Smith was working on something for Warner Bros, and I think I cynically wrote it off as “The Prestige Project He Gets To Make For Agreeing To Do Suicide Squad“- a time-honored Warner Bros tradition. But then the trailer for Collateral Beauty dropped, and I was left pleasantly surprised. 

It’s got a stunning cast that includes a few of my absolute favorite actors, including Michael Peña, Kate Winslet, and Edward Norton, and a premise that looks to be emotionally resonant and perfect for the often-melancholy holiday season.

Collateral Beauty was directed by David Frankel (Marley & Me, The Devil Wears Prada), and also features Helen Mirren, Keira Knightley, and Naomie Harris. 

An insane cast, a thoughtful premise, and set right here in my hometown. Count me in.

Collateral Beauty comes out December 16.
