Some things never change. Such is the case with the voice cast of The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder. Earlier this year a continuation of the beloved 2001 series was released on Disney+. It brought back creators and voice actors that were more than happy to return to continue telling us stories about the Proud Family. Specifically, Penny Proud. Of course, the series has been brought up to modern times in order to relate better with its audience.
With the return of San Diego Comic-Con this year, LRM Online was invited to speak with the cast and creators of the series. You can check out the interviews below!
We’ll kick it off with the conversation with Alisa Reyes and Soleil Moon Frye. They are the returning voices of LaCienega and Zoey in the series. They talked about how the series is “proudly unapologetic”.
Next up we have Paula Jai Paker and JoMarie Payton. They are the voices of Penny’s mom Trudy and her grandmother, Suga Mama. They shared with us their excitement to be able to return with relatable stories for returning and new fans.
We then move on to speak with Bruce W. Smith and Ralph Farquhar. Smith is the creator and executive producer for The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder. Farquhar serves as an executive producer. They commented about their surprise of the cast still having the voices for the characters and their willingness to come back for more.
Last but certainly not least is Kyla Pratt. She voices the star of the series, Penny Proud. She shares with us how happy she was to be able to come back and voice Penny again. Especially now as she herself is a parent and order, to be able to see her in a different perspective.
