I’m not altogether sure about this marketing strategy from Amazon, but hey ho. There are 23 The Rings of Power character posters released yesterday on Twitter. However, the posters only show people from the waist to the chest. Therefore no character names, no faces of actors etc.
It is slightly bizarre because we could have been debating who was playing who, instead we don’t even have enough information for that. Also the way these are released on Twitter is also annoying as each character comes with about 3-4 posts of descriptive text. I have therefore gathered all 23 images here for you to take a gander. I’ll have a few comments on some of them, but others, there’s simply nothing to say.
Here we go.

This will perhaps be the most talked about image for several reasons. For one, it’s pretty obvious this is the baddy. The armor and sword design just evoke bad guy and match the looks of the dark powers from the movies etc. As for who this could be? Well, it theoretically could be Sauron. Sauron could look like a cat if he wanted in this Age, but probably took an Elven or Man form most of the time. Certainly when he was disguised as Annatar he would have looked like an Elf.
The first thing I think looking at this image is a Ring Wraith, so perhaps the Witch King of Angmar, but I think the show is set a bit too far back for him quite yet, I could be wrong if they mess with the timelines a little.

That sword looks a little like Narsil, so one wonders if this could be Elendil? However it could be a very like sword from someone else like Pharazon?

Another Numenorean sword

Another broken blade which certainly isn’t something I can pin point from the legendarium. At this point Narsil of course hasn’t been broken, (The sword Aragorn re-forges later). The sword guard is far more ornate than I’d expect so this seems important. However I cannot think of any other broken swords at this point in time.

I’m guessing the last two images there are Dwarven characters.
Ultimately any insight I can give as a Tolkienite I already have above,. Without the faces, it’s just not possible to do too much speculation here on the ensemble cast of The Rings of Power.
