The Rings Of Power Showrunners Know The Final Shot Of The Series

In a recent interview with Empire, The Rings of Power showrunners say they already know the final shot of the series. One of the showrunners  J.D. Payne tells Empire they have meticulously planned out the five seasons of The Rings of Power.

“We even know what our final shot of the last episode is going to be,” Payne says. “The rights that Amazon bought were for a 50-hour show. They knew from the beginning that was the size of the canvas – this was a big story with a clear beginning, middle and end. There are things in the first season that don’t pay off until Season 5.”

Now, given we know how this story ends it would be something we can speculate upon. However what we don’t know for sure is exactly which ending this show will have? Where will the story stop? One possibility is the show could end with the downfall of Numenor. However, I think it far more likely the show will carry on into the creation of Gondor and end with the Last Alliance of Elves and Men. So, could the final shot be Isildur taking the Ring of power for himself? Or, could we then end with seeing Isildur shot and the Ring slowly fall to the bottom of the Anduin?

My own personal preference , IF this show takes us all the way to the beginning of the Third Age? I think the Ring falling into the Anduin works best, perhaps even with a CGI enhanced time skip for thousands of years until we see a hand close over the Ring. That would be cool and whilst it will never match exactly with Jackson’s movies anyway, it would be a nice point to start watching The Hobbit movies, or skip them and go straight to Fellowship of the Ring is you disliked those Hobbit movies like I did?

I guess we will find out in the Season 5 finale, sometime in years to come?

So The Rings of Power showrunners say they already know the final shot of the series. Speculate away wildly as to what that might be, or where The Rings of Power story will end?
