Gal Gadot surely is putting her Strava app to overtime with all the miles she’s running in The Runner.

In this psychological thriller, Gadot stars in adrenaline-pumping action with a villain forcing her character to trek across town to complete certain tasks for his nefarious plan.

The film also stars Damian Lewis, Rory Wilmot, and Alfred Enoch, with Lewis as the mysterious voice on the phone. Kevin Macdonald directed the film from the screenplay written by Mark Gibson.

In the pulse-pounding psychological thriller The Runner, Maia Marten (Gal Gadot) has built her life on being one step ahead—a sharp, resourceful, high-powered lawyer at the top of London’s legal world.

During her routine morning run, a single phone call shatters her world: her son has been taken. The instructions to get him back are simple and merciless — keep moving, follow every command, and tell no one. Stop, and he dies. Forced to sprint through the city and obey a series of sinister commands, Maia must confront an impossible question: how far will she go to bring her son home?

Set against the backdrop of London’s hyper-connected streets, The Runner is a visceral, high-stakes race where every second counts, every choice carries a price, and a mother’s unstoppable love becomes the most dangerous weapon of all.

The film has a lot of vibes and similarities to 1995’s Nick of Time starring Johnny Depp, in which a man is forced by a mysterious caller to do his bidding or else his daughter dies. In The Runner, all of London is the area and there isn’t a ticking clock.

The Runner streams on Prime Video on Wednesday, September 2.
