Springfield’s Atoms Stadium is set to host a unique event on December 9, as “The Simpsons Funday Football” streams live on Disney+ and ESPN+, offering a special, animated Monday Night Football experience that transports the real-life Bengals vs. Cowboys game into the animated world of The Simpsons. Created in partnership with Disney, ESPN, and the NFL, the event combines NFL’s Next Gen Stats player tracking, Sony’s Beyond Sports technology, and Hawk-Eye Innovations to bring an innovative football viewing experience to fans worldwide.
In this unprecedented matchup, Bart Simpson aligns with Joe Burrow and the Bengals, while Homer Simpson takes the field alongside Dak Prescott and the Cowboys. Throughout the game, Homer and Bart won’t just be bystanders—they’ll join their teams at key moments, stepping onto the animated gridiron to either play offense or defense alongside actual Bengals and Cowboys players. Their friends and family won’t be far behind either, with Lisa, Marge, Maggie, and a host of Springfield residents joining the action in animated skits, player interviews, and comedic moments designed exclusively for the telecast.

The voices of The Simpsons cast—Dan Castellaneta, Nancy Cartwright, Julie Kavner, Yeardley Smith, and Hank Azaria—bring the classic characters to life, while characters like Lisa, Krusty the Clown, Milhouse, Moe, and many others join the sidelines. Each will have a designated allegiance, with Lisa, Milhouse, and Nelson backing Bart’s Bengals, and Moe, Carl, and Lenny supporting Homer’s Cowboys.
Springfield’s setting and the series’ unmistakable aesthetic create an authentic Simpsons twist on NFL commentary. ESPN’s Mina Kimes and Dan Orlovsky, along with Drew Carter, will take on animated personas, providing expert game analysis. Following the success of ESPN’s first fully animated telecast, “Toy Story Funday Football” in October 2023, which won multiple Sports Emmys and set Disney+ viewership records, The Simpsons Funday Football promises another landmark in sports broadcasting.
In addition to Disney+ and ESPN+, the event will be accessible internationally across 145 markets, including Mexico, Brazil, Canada, and Australia. For U.S. viewers, ESPN, ABC, ESPN Deportes, and ESPN+ will air the traditional Monday Night Football presentation, while “Peyton and Eli” will be available on ESPN2.
