The Spine of Night Red Band Trailer Is One Trippy Violent Animated Film

The Spine of Night

In the adult-themed animated films, one film also struck a chord with its nudity, gore, violence, and storytelling with Heavy Metal back in 1981. Since then, many films tried to copy that formula with some success to capture those WTF moments or “what did I just watch?” Maybe The Spine of Night has that essence.

Here’s the official synopsis:

In The Spine of Night, an ultra-violent fantasy epic, ancient dark magic falls into sinister hands and unleashes ages of suffering onto mankind. A group of heroes from different eras and cultures must band together in order to defeat it at all costs.

The voice cast includes Richard E. Grant (Gosford Park, Can You Ever Forgive Me?), Lucy Lawless (Xena: Warrior Princess, Spartacus), Patton Oswalt (Ratatouille, Seeking a Friend for the End of the World), Betty Gabriel (Get Out, The Purge: Election Year), and Joe Manganiello (True Blood, Spider-Man).

So what’s exactly going on in this trailer? All we know is that it’s the ultimate battle of good versus evil in a fantasy setting. It promises to be violent. Very violent.

Hopefully, it’s very weird and graphic. It’s probably worth checking out.

The Spine of Night is in select theaters, On Demand and Digital on October 29.
