With every Star Wars flick under the sun, it’s always a waiting game for fans. Not only do we have to wait for the actual movie to hit, but waiting for the trailers to hit almost seems like a much more difficult task. Such is the case for Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Thus far, we’ve had a single teaser and a behind-the-scenes video from San Diego Comic-Con. Other than that, we’ve had to get back on leaked toy details and miscellaneous feature articles. That’s not to say we’re completely wanting for trailers, but there’s been a definite void in actual footage — one that Disney and Lucasfilm will be sure to fill before the movie’s actual release.

But when will that be?

On Monday, the official Star Wars Twitter account tweeted the following:

Our first instinct here is that they’re teasing yet another trailer, but like all official accounts, they were very vague as to what they were talking about. However, actor Mark Hamill then went ahead and tweeted:

“Watch Monday Night Football on Monday October 9th- for no reason in particular.”

The folks over at Star Wars News Net were quick to point out that Hamill has a history of trolling fans, but the move did make sense. With Disney owning ESPN, using Star Wars to help bolster those ratings is just the kind of synergy one could expect.

This theory then became a lot more interesting when Hamill’s tweet was deleted. Disney tends to have their actors and crew delete tweets that give away just a little too much, and it looks like that could very well be the case.

With all that in mind, it sounds like the Star Wars: The Last Jedi trailer will indeed be hitting on October 9 during Monday Night Football — just over two months prior to the film’s release.

While it does seem a bit late to be releasing a full trailer, this will still give us plenty of time to dissect, and will also leave a substantial gap in which Lucasfilm can release a series of TV spots prior to the movie’s release.

What do you think? Is October 9 a good day to release the full trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi? Let us know your thoughts down below!
