If you haven’t seen any of the previous two Transformers: War for Cybertron arcs, please go back and watch those before viewing this trailer or reading my thoughts. This trilogy is the definitive Transformers experience. It is the best of the amazing War for Cybertron games and our beloved G1 bots with an added dash of “we know the core audience is 30-45 years old.” I have thoroughly enjoyed the series, and the new The Transformers: War For Cybertron- Kingdom trailer just made my day.
DID YOU SEE THAT? I will not lie, the synopsis for Transformers: Rise of the Beasts left me wanting to crawl in a hole with a plasma grenade, but I had high hopes for this upcoming trilogy cap. T: WFC- Kingdom looks to deliver on what we liked about the original Beast Wars but with real effort. That’s not to say that the original wasn’t hard work, just that it was aimed at kids and aged terribly. G1 was aimed at kids but aged better, and it’s not all about it being from “my time” as there are things today (The Amazing World of Gumball) that I think will hold up for my son’s generation. From the looks of things, we’ll be getting a from start to finish.

The Beasts
Beautiful, isn’t it? Optimus Primal and Optimus Prime in a great show! There are shots of Insecticons, Predicons, our Maximal friends, and of course a purple T-Rex. In the last season/series we got to see Galvatron give Megatron some important information and a key item. There is some time travel at play here and it causes me to wonder if this earth is futuristic, like how the original Beast Wars was set after G1, or in an alternate past. Did G1 already happen and we’re pulling an Avengers: Endgame or Loki here? WHO CARES? We got the beasts!
This series has been great, and I am sad to see it end. However, things like this, Castlevania, and Masters of the Universe: Revelation all give me hope for mature animation outside of Family Guy and Bob’s Burgers. T: WFC- Kingdom hits July 29th on Netfflix.
