The Witcher Has Wrapped Production, Henry Cavill Shares BTS Photo

The Golden age of fantasy is on its way. Game of Thrones may have ended, but its success has resulted in the proliferation of future shows of its ilk heading to the small and big screen alike. Coming up, we have the likes of His Dark Materials, Lord of the Rings, and Kingkiller Chronicle on the horizon — some farther away than others. But, of course, we can’t forget Netflix’s baby coming up soon. I’m talking about The Witcher.

Based on the novels by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, the Netflix series stars Henry Cavill in the role of Geralt, and is set to hit the streaming service later this year. On the heels of a series of controversial set videos and photos, we now have confirmation from showrunner Laura Hissrich that they have officially wrapped production.

She wasn’t the only one celebrating. Star Henry Cavill also took to social media to show off a behind-the-scenes photo from the makeup chair. For now, he says audio to the character, but hopefully the season will warrant a second one.

“Season 1 of The Witcher has finally come to an end. And although I’m pulling a face here it has been an incredible journey! The cast and crew worked tirelessly throughout, everyone pitched in and brought their A game to set and I couldn’t be more proud of you all.

“Speaking of my immediate team. Jacqui, Ailbhe and Leah are consummate professionals who worked extraordinary hours to bring the Witcher to life, they were non stop improving adjusting and evolving Geralt throughout. Thank you ladies for making this journey a good one. All of those 3 am wake ups were worth it!”
