The Witcher is just a couple of weeks away from hitting Netflix, and it looks like its main star, Henry Cavill, is already making the talk show rounds promoting this thing. In the show, which is based on the novels by author Andrzej Sapkowski, Cavill plays the titular Geralt of Rivia, a Witcher who hunts monsters for a fee. This show is big on magic, and is also pretty big on action.
Cavill recently sat down with Jimmy Kimmel on a recent episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, where he discussed the series. They even showed a clip, which shows off a banquet fight scene between Geralt and a crapton of armored men.
Check it out down below around 6:20 in!
Kimmel noticed that, in the scene, Cavill looked like he was doing his own stunts, and the actor confirmed that he did all his stunts for the first season.
“I do my best not to have a stuntman. On this I didn’t use as stuntman tat all. For me, it’s really important that the character exists within the action as well, rather than just an acting scene, and then you have an action scene, which is completely separate, and then you’re back to the acting again. It’s really important that the story and character travel through all those things.”
This isn’t the first time Cavill has mentioned this. Way back at San Diego Comic-Con this year, he revealed this fact, but I’m happy to hear him confirm it, as I wondered myself if maybe he stated it more definitively than he’d intended, but no, this is all his work, which is pretty cool.
