The Witcher Season 2 Casting Announcements

The Witcher Family Show Concerns - Showrunner Explains Decision

Check out this The Witcher Season 2 casting announcement from Netflix. The roles as follows have been announced for Season 2 of the hit show.

The only characters I’m quite familiar with are Phillipa Eilhart played by Cassie Clare, and Dijkstra played by Graham McTavish. I have not managed to read all the translated Witcher books yet. Therefore the reason I am so familiar with these two characters is because they featured heavily in the Witcher games from CDPR. I had read enough to understand what was going on in Season 1 of The Witcher, but between the Season 1 and where the games go, there remain mysteries to me.

I have a rough idea of where things will go in The Witcher Season 2. Not enough to be spoiled though, which I can’t really say for Season 1. Djikstra is the character I am most intrigued to see here. The character essentially runs the Redanian Intelligence, though, he has many of his own goals and motivations. Geralt and Djikstra have an uneasy relationship, at times at odds, at times with the same goals. Like most characters within The Witcher, Djikstra is less outright dark than he is a dark shade of grey. McTavish should be great in the role, and I hope he nails it.

As for Philippa, she is a sorceress like Yennefer. However Eilhart gets involved in some plots which estrange her from the order she is supposed to serve. Phillipa believes that the sorcerers should be the rulers of The Continent and not just advising petty Kings. Phillipa also founds later The Lodge of Sorceresses which she then leads. Oh, and she also has her eyes gouged out at one point, which is nice. I’ve not come across Cassie Clare yet myself, so I cannot comment on how good she will be as Phillipa. I guess that might depend on how good she is playing a bit of a bitch and control freak?

The rest of the roles I will likely discover along with most of you when Season 2 of The Witcher hits. What do you think of this latest round of The Witcher Season 2 casting? As always leave any thoughts below.
