The Witcher Season 2 resumes filming! Season 2 of The Witcher actually started production back in January. However like the rest of the World, The Witcher was delayed due to Coronavirus. It was expected that filming on Season 2 would resume sometime in the next week. The latest Instagram post from director Stephen Surjik however, makes it clear shooting has already begun. Check it out.
Surjik is set to direct the first two episodes of The Witcher Season 2. Surjik and showrunner Lauren Hissrich have been revealing some of the social distancing measures out in place for filming on social media. However, this latest post from Surjik is the first that shows us shooting is underway. The shoot for The Witcher was originally supposed to conclude on August 17th, but that was before the delay. Who knows when the shoot will run to on this new schedule?

As for when we might see The Witcher Season 2? I’ll guess middle of next year, at the earliest. We have to wait and see on that front, as who knows what will happen next with the crazy year that is 2020? The critics were not in love with Season 1 of The Witcher on the whole. However, I really enjoyed The Witcher, and I know it caught the attention of a lot of fans. I do expect something more from Season 2, which is common from me. For example I loved the recent Umbrella Academy Season 2, because it was able to tighten the narrative up and provide less exposition. I am hopeful The Witcher Season 2 will find its feet now that leads Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri are together as a trio.
