The Witcher Season 3 Teaser Trailer And Release Dates

Henry Cavill talks about the upcoming Highlander Reboot during his appearance at CinemaCon.

Today we are sharing The Witcher Season 3 teaser trailer which was released yesterday, alongside the release dates for the third Season. As I’m sure you already know, The Witcher Season 3 will be the last one where we see Henry Cavill in the role of Geralt. Cavill left the show and will be replaced by Liam Hemsworth going forward for Season 4. That’s if we get a Season 4, but more on that below.

Check out the first teaser below.

As Netlfix has been doing with their big shows recently The Witcher Season 3 will release in two volumes. Volume 1 will drop on the service June 29th and then we will have to wait for July 27th for Volume 2. I’m not a fan of this release model, but it is what it is.

However I do wonder on the future of The Witcher franchise. After Cavill left, the production team have had a hell of a time from fans. I’m not sure anyone in the core Witcher fandom (pre-show) has any interest in Season 3 at all? Season 1 had some issues. However, although the narrative was more straightforward in Season 2, it angered fans by deviating so much from the source material. It’s also rumored that Cavill, as a fan of the books, was also not happy with the liberties being taken by the writing team. However, that’s not hard fact, check the related section below for the Barside Buzz.

Ergo, if the book and games fans are refusing to watch Season 3, who will be the audience? I guess it will depend on the casual audience who enjoyed Season 1 and 2 and want to come back for more? Personally I’ve only read two books (I think) and therefore probably hated Season 2 less than some fans. That being said, I certainly hope Season 3 is an improvement, but that remains to be seen? Most recently The Witcher franchise gave us Blood Origin. That mini-series was critically panned and word of mouth was even worse.

It turns out alienating your in built fanbase and falling out with the main star can hurt a show after all, who could have known? What do you think of The Witcher Season 3 teaser trailer. Will you be checking out Volume 1 around the release date of June 29th? As always, leave any thoughts below.
