The Witcher: Showrunner Explains The World, Plus Listen To Two Songs From The Show

We’re two weeks from the release of the next big fantasy show, The Witcher, which is hitting Netflix this December 20. People will be calling it the next Game of Thrones, or as I predict, we’ll see plenty of headlines saying, “The Witcher tries to be the next Game of Thrones, but fails!” Not that that’s true in any way, but you know how news is. If something is within the same genre, it’s trying to be Game of Thrones.

But make no mistake, The Witcher is no Game of Thrones. I’ve had a chance to watch the first five episodes of the show, and while I can’t talk about anything in great detail, I can say for certain that the show has its own unique world, style, tone, and storytelling methods. And, as with many shows, that may require a bit of a primer, which showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich is happy to give.

Netflix has released a series of interviews with Hissrich, who breaks down her approach with the show, including her desire to delve into Ciri and Yennefer before they cross paths with Geralt.

That ain’t all Netflix has managed to release today. We also got not one, but TWO official tracks from the show. Take a listen down below at the theme of Geralt, which is super catchy.

Perhaps more interesting is the song that comes from a specific bard named Jaskier, who sings the praises of Geralt. I predict plenty of folks will be singing this one for years to come.

What do you think of these tracks? Let us know down below!
