The ‘Worst Superhero Duo’ Quantum & Woody Return This Wednesday

The “worlds worst superhero duo in the world”, Quantum & Woody are back this Wednesday at comic book shops everywhere from Valiant Entertainment. This not dynamic duo have been around since June 1997 when they first appeared in the first issue of Quantum and Woody from Acclaim Comics. They were created by Christopher Priest and artist M.D. Bright. Eric Henerson and Woodrow Van Chelton are adoptive brothers that are accidentally imbued with powers. But one problem with their powers is that they are required to slam their metal wristbands to each other every twenty four hours to avoid being dissolved.

Now they are back in Quantum and Woody #1 written by Christopher Hastings with artwork by Ryan Browne and colors by Ruth Redmond. The covers for the first issue which are included below are by David Nakayama, Dave Johnson and David Lopez. In this series we find our two “heroes” on the run from the government. But this will not stop them from doing what is right… right? All of sudden Woody claims to have been doing extensive training that has given him new abilities that have granted him some sort of visions. But is he lying? So while they figure this out, they also have to deal with a coalition of mad scientists from destroying the planet.

Check out the covers and some preview pages below!

This first issue of Quantum & Woody is a lot of fun. It is very fast paced with a lot of action. As you go from panel to panel the creative team not only moves the story forward but also gives you some information about the characters in case this is your first time picking up one of their titles. The artwork fits the book very well and I love the bright colors that are used throughout the book. A fun fact about the series is that when it was created, they were looking to create a super hero title that was similar to Marvel Comics’ Power Man and Iron Fist. Then it was decided that one of the characters be a comedic relief and they took inspiration from the two main characters from the film White Man Can’t Jump played by Woody Harrelson and Wesley Snipes.
