Don’t get me wrong. I love streaming, but for me, there’s just something special about going to the movies. I love getting a drink and some snacks and enjoying a movie with a crowd. Watching The Avengers: Endgame in theaters was freaking awesome not just because the movie was amazing. Enjoying the film with all of us in the theater feeding off each others’ excitement is a such a fun experience. When Sam said, “on your left,” everyone exploded with joy. Disney announced on Friday that the rest of the 2021 Disney movies will hit theaters before they stream on Disney+. It feels like another little piece of normal is returning.
Kareem Daniel, Disney Media And Entertainment Distribution Chairman, shared a statement:
As confidence in moviegoing continues to improve, we look forward to entertaining audiences in theaters, while maintaining the flexibility to give our Disney+ subscribers the gift of Encanto this holiday season.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the 10 Rings did very well in theaters and I really enjoyed it. Eternals will be released on November 5 and Encanto will be released on November 24. Also, West Side Story and The Kings Man will hit theaters in December. So get your tickets and get ready for a belly full of popcorn because the holiday season is looking merry and bright for movie lovers. Additionally, for those who aren’t keen on movie theaters, movies that have been scheduled for the year will only have theater exclusivity for 45 days. A 45-day wait isn’t too bad. In comparison, wait times for movie releases were depressing during my childhood and even worse for my parents’ childhood. For many films coming out soon, I’m not waiting. I plan on spending more quality time in theaters.
