Star Trek Beyond may have ultimately fallen short of Paramount’s expectations, but the Star Trek brand is far from dead. In addition to the series Star Trek: Discovery on CBS All Access, they are also hard at work on the next entry in the film series — and we’re not just talking about the much-talked-about Quentin Tarantino film.
For those who don’t know what I’m talking about, a few months back, Quentin Tarantino stated that he had some ideas for a Trek film. J.J. Abrams got in touch with him, put together a writers room, and now The Revenant writer Mark L. Smith is writing a draft of it as we speak. But don’t think that’s the only one they’re working on. If series star Zachary Quinto is to be believed, there are are a couple more.

“First of all, I think there’s a couple of scripts. Because there was a script being written before Quentin Tarantino came up with his idea for a potential film. And so I think they are kind of developing more than one. So I don’t know what is going to happen. All of us are really excited about the idea of working with Quentin on a Trek film, but I know Simon Pegg and Doug Jung, who wrote the last film, are writing a script and there are another set of writers writing a script. So I don’t know. I don’t know what’s going to happen.”
So from the sound of it, there are three or so drafts in the works at some level. Around the release of Star Trek Beyond, there was talk of a time-traveling episode that would reunite James Kirk and his father (who we saw die in the first rebooted Star Trek film). It’s unclear what concept Pegg and Jung are following through with, but given the number of different directions they can go in, the sky is certainly the limit.
Would you like to see actor Chris Hemsworth return as Kirk’s father in a fourth film, or would you rather see Tarantino’s vision come to life? Sound off down below!
