This past December we finally got the final chapter of the Star Wars Skywalker saga that we had all been waiting for. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker brought in over $1 billion in the box office, when it was all set and done it still seemed like there was a divide between fans about how it all ended. But that’s not all folks!
Today at ComicsPRO in Portland, Oregon, Marvel Comics announced that they will be putting this final chapter of the Skywalker saga in comic book form. The series will have the same title as the film, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. It will feature the creative team of Jody Houser and artwork by Will Sliney. You can check out a issue #1 cover preview by Phil Noto down below!
This five issue limited series will have some of the same plot points as the film, but they will also include brand new story material for fans to enjoy. Houser commented on being able to work on to book, “As a lifelong Star Wars fan, it was an honor to be asked to be a part of wrapping up the Skywalker saga with Marvel Comics,” Houser says. “We have some fun plans to add scenes and material that weren’t seen in the movie.”
Although I am curious about what new information they plan to release in the comic book, if it was really that important it should have been in the film. Personally I am not a big fan of the Star Wars comics in general as you can usually guess on where the story ends up because they have to tie into the films. But if it’s your cup of tea, have fun!
