Thrilling Season 5 Trailer And Release Date For Amazon’s The Expanse

The Expanse

One of my favorite science fiction series is soon returning for its fifth season. Amazon Prime Video’s The Expanse. For years my good friend had talked about it, but it wasn’t until the third season that I finally picked it up. Politics are no longer just an Earth matter. It also affects what happens in space and now beyond thanks to the opening of the alien ring. Earth, Mars, and the Belt all fight for what seems is universal dominance. If you’re into the sci-fi genre, I highly recommend this series.

Today during the New York Comic Con’s Metaverse, Amazon Prime Video premiered the trailer for season five of The Expanse. You can check it out above! Along with the trailer the release date for the series was also revealed. The first three episodes of the fifth season will premiere on December 16th, 2020. After that, a new episode will be released every Wednesday. This will culminate in what promises to be an epic season finale on February 3rd, 2021. The series will be available to watch exclusively on Amazon Prime Video in more than 240 territories around the world.

Here is the description of what we can expect of the fifth season of The Expanse:
Season five of the series picks up as multitudes of humans leave the solar system in search of new homes and vast fortunes on the earth-like worlds beyond the alien Ring, and a heavy price for centuries of exploitation of the Belt finally comes due and a reckoning is at hand. For the crew of the Rocinante and the leaders of the Inner Planets and the Belt, the past and present converge, bringing forth personal challenges that have wide-reaching repercussions throughout the Solar System.

The Expanse

Amos (Wes Chatham) returns to Earth to confront his past and the legacy of the life he fought to leave behind. Naomi (Dominique Tipper) reaches out to her estranged son in a desperate bid to save him from his father’s toxic influence. Bobbie (Frankie Adams) and Alex (Cas Anvar) confront the collapse of Mars as they chase a shadowy cabal with ties to terrorists and criminals. Holden (Steven Strait) wrestles with the consequences of his own past with the Protomolecule, the aliens who built it, and the mystery of what killed them. Drummer (Cara Gee), with a new crew, fights to escape who and what she used to be. And Avasarala (Shohreh Aghdashloo), refusing to be relegated to the sidelines, fights to prevent a terrorist attack unrivaled in history.

It’s going to be a very interesting season. A lot of the characters that we have invested now for years are now going on separate paths. All caused by a variety of different events from the present and the past. I am excited to see how the Earth and Mars handle this new threat from the Belt. The one character that I’m most curious about is Avasarala, who now doesn’t have the same power as before. I want to see how she handles a lesser role for once. Especially since she lost it to someone so much younger.
