Tom DiCillo wasn’t entirely satisfied with his film Delirious back in 2007.
After 13 years, the original studio that owned the rights went belly up. Thus, he saw the opportunity to track down the rights to the film and re-cut the film to his original vision.
The paparazzi/celebrity story starred Steve Buscemi (Fargo, Ghost World), Michael Pitt (Funny Games, Seven Psychopaths), and Allison Lohman (Drag Me to Hell, White Oleander). Other cast members included Gina Gershon (Face/Off), Callie Thorne (Rescue Me), Kevin Corrigan (Pineapple Express), Melissa Rauch (The Big Bang Theory), Kristen Schaal (Bill & Ted Face the Music), and Richard Short (Public Enemies). DiCillo wrote and directed the movie.
Here’s the official synopsis:
Les (Buscemi) is a small-time paparazzi with dreams of making it big. His luck changed for the better when he befriends a young homeless kid, Toby (Pitt), and makes him his assistant. The two form an unlikely bond running through the sham and glam of NYC’s celebrity scene but when Toby falls for a pop diva and becomes a reality TV star. Les takes the rejection personally.
In this newly released Blu-ray/DVD, and Digital HD, it features bonus and behind-the-scenes content, including a film introduction of DiCillo’s motivation behind his 12-year search for the film. Other features also included new audio commentary from DiCillo, the full music video “Shove It” with Alison Lohman, and the original theatrical trailer.
