When Mad Max: Fury Road came out, it reinvigorated a series that had gone dormant for nearly thirty years. Director George Miller successfully brought his Road Warrior back into the public’s consciousness, and there’s been a hunger for more post-apocalyptic thrills ever since.
Yet the main thing we’ve heard since Mad Max: Fury Road came out was that the next film could actually be a prequel that doesn’t focus on Max Rockatansky (the role made famous by Mel Gibson, which Tom Hardy inherited for the relaunch), but rather on Charlize Theron’s Imperator Furiosa. If that were to pan out, where would that leave Hardy’s Max?
Apparently, whatever the follow-up to Mad Max: Fury Road ends up being, Hardy is set to be in it.
Here’s what the British actor told The Wrap about his involvement with the next Mad Max:
“I don’t know when that starts, but I believe that’s in the books…. I’m waiting for the call to come.”
So there you have it. Hardy sounds fairly certain that there’ll not only be another Mad Max film, but that he’ll be in it.
As for me, I’m still wishing my April Fool’s joke from 2016 was true and that THIS would be how George Miller’s future looked:
“BREAKING: Zack Snyder Has Exited JUSTICE LEAGUE, Replaced By George Miller!“
That was such a fun day. I’m still so bummed that when we switched our URL to lrmonline from Latino-Review that we lost all of our old Comments & Shares. That thing got shared over 10k times and got 500+ comments before people realized it was April 1st. Good times!
