Tom Hardy Helped Write Venom 2, Says Director Andy Serkis

Earlier this week, it was confirmed that Andy Serkis, actor and performance capture extraordinaire, would be at the helm for the next film in the Venom franchise. Tom Hardy would be returning to star as Eddie Brock as well as the titular Venom, but in terms of the writing team, only Kelly Marcel would be returning for this second outing. But that’s not to say she’ll actually be alone.

Speaking with GameSpot, Serkis himself expressed his excitement in joining the production, and went on to reveal that Marcel wasn’t the only who had a hand in the script, despite being the only current credited screenwriter.

“Tom was very involved with the writing–with [screenwriter] Kelly Marcel–of the new story,” he told the outlet. “So it’s very much centered around their take.”

More than anything, I’m interested to see if Hardy ends up getting screenwriter credit. With Deadpool 2, Ryan Reynolds’ involvement ended up getting him credit, and I want Hardy’s contribution to be substantial enough, because frankly, I’m interested to hear what his screenwriting voice would be like.

What do you think? Is it a good sign that Hardy was so heavily involved in the screenplay? Let us know your thoughts down below!
