Emmy-nominated composer Tony Morales got into the holiday spirit with not one, but two-holiday movies. For Disney Junior, Morales scored for the two children’s animation with Mickey’s Tale of Two Witches and Mickey and Minnie Wish Upon a Christmas.

The film is for preschoolers and their families, so the scores and melodies must be catchy for little children.

Here is the synopsis for both films:

Mickey’s Tale of Two Witches – On Halloween, Mickey tells Pluto a story about two witches-in-training, Minnie the Wonderful and Daisy Doozy, who must pass four tests to graduate from the Witch Academy in Happy Haunt Hills. While Daisy isn’t confident about passing, she and Minnie join forces, along with Count Mickula and the gang, to defeat a mischievous ghost. Minnie and Daisy learn that working together makes their magic and their friendship stronger.

Micky and Minnie Wish Upon a Christmas – After a series of mishaps, Mickey, Minnie, and the gang are separated all over the world and must try to get back to Hot Dog Hills by Christmas Eve. A mysterious and jolly stranger shows up to tell them about The Wishing Star, which could be the secret to bringing everybody home in time to celebrate together.

LRM Online’s Gig Patta talked with composer Tony Morales on his approach for holiday music and for the children. Also, we discussed his background and his love for composition.

Tony Morales is an Emmy-nominated score composer for the mini-series Hatfields & McCoys. He served as the composer for Disney’s Elena of Avalor, which follows Princess Elena as the first princess inspired by Latin cultures and folklore. In this series, he was also nominated for Emmy Awards and an Annie Award. His other works also included composing for television series such as Bloodline, Scorpion, Alaska: The Final Frontier, and the upcoming Lee Child’s Reacher.

Mickey’s Tale of Two Witches premiered today on Disney+ and also playing on Disney Junior. Mickey and Minnie Wish Upon a Christmas premieres on Thursday, December 2 on Disney Junior.
